Al Sharpton, Newt Gingrich, Al B. Sure! Team Up to Press Biden Administration on Medicare Blood Test Coverage

The Rev. Al Sharpton, musician Al B. Sure! and former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich are teaming up to fight the Biden Administration Medicare change that eliminates Medicare coverage for specific blood tests.

Sharpton and Sure! launched the Health Equity in Transplantation Coalition (HETC) last week, according to Fox News, to call for the return of coverage for blood tests that help detect early signs of organ rejection in organ transplant recipients.

“We have to reverse this decision,” Al B!, executive chairman of HETC, and who received a liver transplant last year, told Fox News. “Joe Biden does have the power to reverse this. So we are asking everyone to come together in unison, to really put forth an effort to just hone in and focus on listening.”

Gingrich also told the channel he had experienced “firsthand the complexities and the importance of constant monitoring” after both his brother and sister had lung transplants.

“This transplantation community is a community that has no prejudice,” the musician continued.

The change would have happened after improper billing and overuse of the tests.
